Badger and Cattle Vaccination initiative is a Save Me Trust project to develop a sustainable and viable solution to BovineTB in cattle. BovineTB is a pernicious disease that can hide within cells and lay latent and undetected for many years. It was clear that the current SICCT test used in the UK was not effective in finding infectious animals and was leaving these animals in the herd was the source of the continual breakdowns.
BACVI organised the first BTB symposium in 2013. In 2017, a combination of new technologies and breakthroughs led to the Save Me Project farm becoming officially TB free after many years under restrictions. A second BTB Symposium at UCL London, heralded a breakthrough in collaborative working between all stakeholders attracting the worlds leading BTB experts.
